Interview with Ms. Purpura on the subject of SAT and PSAT
Who is going to take the test?
PSAT - All Sophomores and Juniors on October 12th
SAT - Seniors usually take the test in the fall and Juniors usually take it in the spring. Testing dates are Oct 1st, Nov.5th, Dec.3rd, May5th and June 2nd.
What is the purpose of the test?
PSAT - Receive feedback on your strengths and weaknesses on skills necessary for college study. You can then focus your preparation on those areas that could most benefit from additional study or practice.
Why are SAT & PSAT so important?
Help students get into a better University.
What are the expected scores for most students?
The SAT has three parts: Critical reading, Mathematics and Writing. The scores range from 200-800 for each area. This means that students can make anywhere from a 600 to a 2400. Very few students are able to obtain a perfect score even the ones accepted to the top universities. Every University has a different requirement for acceptance, so you need to research requirements for the schools that you want to apply.
Grade 11 students survey
Most of the 11th grade students feel nervous about their English. Their goal scores are 2000~2400. Math and critical reading are the hardest part of the test. Most of the students said they prepared for the test, especially SAT vocabulary. Some say that they would take the test again if they don’t get the score they want.
