On Saturday, September 29, 2012 at 10o’clock, our QISS students all assembled together in the blue building of Shi Lao Ren Beach. When everybody arrived, Ms. Rust explained how to clean up the beach and also distributed the tools for clean up. Then students divided into groups and did their work. Before we got into the beach, everyone thought the beach was really clean, pretty and don’t need to clean up. But when we started and walked around, there were many things that shouldn’t be in the beach. Whenever students completed a trash bag they gathered them in one place and assembled to the place where Ms. Rust asked us to wait. Students were really busy and were quite exhausted so after they finished, they ate some candied haws on a stick for dessert. There were really many trash bags that we collected. It’s really a pretty beach and I don’t know why people made the beach like this. We planned to play at the beach after cleaning up, but everyone was tired so we just took pictures of everyone and got home. I was tired but we all had fun and wished we could stay longer.
By Kaylee.K Students, parents, friends, and staff come to celebrate the day together. We had lots of fun activities and everyone participated well. We shared wonderful memories together. * While lower school students participated in sports, upper school students watched presentations about different countries like Japan, Scandinavia, USA, UN, Korea, Germany, Latin America, Canada, and China - and also participated in related activities. In Ms-Hs room 406 (Canada), students grouped up and played Hockey, which is the sport that represents Canada. In Ms-Hs room 303(Korea), students wrapped Kim Bop- traditional food of Korea- with parents of QISS. In Ls room 104 (Scandinavia), Jorgen, from grade 10, had a presentation about Norway. Mrs. Kristin and Marianne had presentations about Sweden and Denmark. After the presentation, students took brief Scandinavian quiz. In MS-HS room 405 (Latin America) students danced to music with Mrs. Staci’s assistance. Students also took their turn to hit the Piñatas - A traditional game in Mexico that with the container filled with candies, chocolates, etc, while it is suspended above, children break it with sticks and release the contents. In Ms-Hs room 306 (Germany), Julia, from grade 9, had a presentation about Germany. In Ls room 203 (UN), Matthew, Angela, Cody, and Reno each had presentations about different countries. After the sports time, students, teachers, parents, and etc went to the cafeteria and ate food provided by QISS parents. After lunch, QISS high school band played each country’s songs, and QISS Chorus class sang songs in their beautiful harmony. At last, QISS band Randomize played two songs No Thank You and Walkie Talkie Man, and the day ended in a big success. We viewed presentations, and also participated in sports;
after we had food in Cafeteria with parents, music from QISS band was played. Everyone made a good participation and shared grateful memories. Thank you everyone! WE WELCOME ALL NEW TEACHERS & NEW DIRECTOR OF QISS! :) By. KAY CHO :D
